Students who participated as Fellows for AT LEAST TWO YEARS ARE MORE LIKELY TO HAVE COMPLETED AN ADVANCED COLLEGE DEGREE (Masters or Doctoral level).

IYLI has

  • Directly serviced over 800 students and taken more than 300 students overseas to countries in Africa,
    Europe and the Caribbean
  • Raised $650,000 over the last 8 years
  • Provided travel and academic scholarships to over 280 students
  • Helped to incubate other New York City organizations, including Brotherhood/SisterSol and Nah We Yone
  • Became the model for a multi-million dollar initiative to expand travel opportunities for students of color to experience international travel

IYLI Alumni have

  • Enrolled in more than 50 postsecondary institutions in 14 states and the District of Columbia
  • Been the recipients of numerous scholarships including Woodrow Wilson Fellowship, Fulbright,
    and Thomas Watson Fellowship
  • Become involved in service careers and helping professions in the fields of education, youth development, nonprofit management, international development, business, law and health.
  • At a rate of 98%, gone on to attend postsecondary institutions.  A recent survey revealed that 25% of all
    alumni had completed a Bachelor’s degree and 20 students were currently enrolled in a four-year
    or graduate program (survey results included approximately 33% of all alumni).
